Asda Mis Pricing - When discounts don't apply at the checkout

I like Asda.  It offers food at value for money prices, that is quality versus the price.  I choose to shop there, and, I am lucky in that I live not far away from a 24 hour superstore.
I know I am a sad man, but living so close affords me the luxury of being able to visit frequently, and, hence when I go to shop I tend to buy a small amount of goods.

Although so far all is positive, you will no doubt realise that I wouldn’t be posting on the blog unless I had some sort of gripe.  You are of course right.  My bugbear this time is the mispricing.  I shop around and tend to pick up items that are on offer and have been reduced in price.  The problem is the number of times I have got to the checkout only for the item to scan at the original price, which can be up to 40% more than I bargained for.  This results in one of the staff going to undertake a price check, which always seems to take an age, and I start to feel bad about the queues building up behind me.  Invariably the staff return saying that the product label should now show the original price, as the reduction has been withdrawn.  At this point they always adjust the price to the lower amount.

No offence but why tell me it is the fault of the label?  I was attracted to the item because of the reduction.  Have Asda deliberately left the label on to trick people?  After all if you had a large weekly shop how likely are to spot if you have been overcharged?  I wrote to Asda to complain, and, just received the response stating that the pricing had been corrected at the checkout so there was no error in the price of the shopping I purchased.

I often wonder if they took any action to try and correct the labelling issue in any of their stores?  When they find a labelling error, do they check to see how many items were sold at the incorrect price?  I’d be interested to know.

So all I can say is please check each and every price of the items you purchase.  Do this fastidiously at the till.  Do not worry if the queues are building up behind you.  Perhaps this will prompt Asda into being more careful with the pricing labels.

As I said I like Asda.
