The annoying way blogger records page views

I need to have a quick moan.  The way blogger displays page views on its overview section is really annoying me.  When I am in the process of writing a post, it always counts as page views the amount of times I preview the page to make sure the layout looks okay.  This gives me a misleading figure as to the number of people that have viewed my blog.

Take for example when I was published my last post.  I previewed it nine times, and, after I had published it the page views counter showed nine views today, however the post showed a total of zero views.  This was the truth as no one apart from myself had viewed the post.  So why does blogger insist on counting my own viewings as page views?  My blog boasts a total of a massive 121 page views, but I believe that all of these are just the times when I have previewed my own posts.  The stark reality is that no one else on the wonderful world wide web has read any of my blog.  Although probably a little tiny bit depressing, I would rather blogger just showed zero total page views and then I would know exactly where I stood.

I have actually ticked the box that says “Don’t track your own page views” but this does not seem to have any effect.  I am not quite sure what this achieves, or, whether it is just not working on my computer?

I remember the time when I set up my blog, and, I previewed all the different themes in the layout menu to see how they all looked.  Imagine my delight when the statistic for that day’s number of page views appeared as 50.  I was over the moon, but the realisation soon dawned on me that it had just recorded my previews.  Oh how I did laugh.
